Can a rental period start on any day of the week?

Yes, rental can start on any day of the week

What is the minimum number of days for rental?

In the peak season (july and august) the minimum number of the days you can rent a camper is 7 days.

For the rest of the year the minimum is 4 days.

Can I park my car at the rental location of Wilde Campers?

Yes, you can. It will be parked safely inside but at your own risk.

What is the address for pick up and return of the camper?

The campers can be picked up and returned in Alkmaar at Lorentzstraat 5B.

Can I reach Wilde Campers by public transportation?

It's easy to reach Wilde Campers by public transportation.

With bus from NS station Alkmaar to industrie terrein oudorp

By Uber / taxi from NS station Alkmaar 5 minutes

What do I do when I have a break down with the camper?

In case of a breakdown you can contact VHD Emergency Centre

The Emergency Centre can be reached 24 hours a day, every day and can be reached at telephone number +31 24 360 20 60.

For how many people are the campers suitable?

Our retro campers are equipped for two persons.

Two persons can sleep in them.

While driving it's only allowed to use the front seats that are equipped with safety belts.

The bench in the back may not be used for passengers while driving!

Nb: for a small fee we can equip the camper with a double passenger seat with safety belts in the front. In that case it's allowed drive with three persons.

Holland is suitable for four persons

Can I rent a camper for more than 4 weeks?

Yes, you definitely can. You will be charged a lower rate in that case. Please contact us and we will make you a good offer.

In what countries are the campers insured for roadside assistance and a replacement camper?

You will be insured for roadside assistance and a replacement camper in the following countries: Andorra, Belgium, Bosnië-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Great-Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Czech Republic, Vatican City, Sweden and Switzerland

What assistance do I get in case of a break down with the camper?

Wilde Campers is insured with Bovemij Insurance Company. Below you will find the coverage of Bovemij for roadside assistance.

If you need roadside assistance the Emergency Centre of Bovemij will arrange or pay for the following:

Repair on site

Repair by a professional emergency service on site if the camper can be repaired within two hours.

Transport

Transport to the nearest professional emergency service or garage if (emergency) repair is not possible on site.

Towage or storage

Towage and storage of the vehicle and onward transportation to the nearest dealer or the nearest car company as soon as the dealer or the car company is open.

Transportation of the driver and passengers

The transportation of the driver and passengers if this takes place together with the transportation of the camper. If transport together with the camper is not possible, the costs of transporting these persons to the intended destination by public transport or taxi are insured. For transportation by taxi you are insured for a maximum of € 100 in total.

Hotel

The hotel costs based on bed and breakfast. For the period that the camper is being repaired. There is a maximum of four nights for a maximum of € 80.00 per person per night. This is insured if the camper can not be repaired on the day of the report, but the repair can be carried out within four working days. The costs of public transport or taxi from and to the nearest hotel are also insured. For transportation by taxi you are insured for a maximum of € 100 in total.

Sending replacement parts

The costs of sending replacement parts. By that we mean the costs for the necessary customs formalities. This is ensured if the parts required for repair are not available or can be delivered from stock.

Repatriation of the camper

Repatriation of the camper if the camper can not be repaired within four working days.

Refueling the wrong fuel

Towing it to the nearest garage if the wrong fuel has been refueled. All other costs incurred are not insured.

Replacement transport

Replacement camper if the camper can not be repaired within four working days. As long as the camper is in repair or up to 28 days.

Replacement driver

The costs of a replacement driver for the return journey to the Netherlands. Or the transit to the first place of destination. If the driver breaks down during the trip due to illness or an accident and none of the other passengers can drive the camper.

Why did you choose the name Wilde Campers?

The wildebeast is one of my favorite African animals. The view of thousands of wildebeasts crossing the Mara river will be forever ingrained in my memory. The name Wilde Campers is a tribute to these tireless and intrepid travelers.

Is there a minimum age?

Wilde Campers does not work with a minimum age to rent or drive a camper van.

Can I take my dog?

Yes, you can take your dog(s) along in the retro camper van. There is enough space.

How do these campers perform on hills and mountains?

No problem at all.

All our campers are equipped with a powerfull turbo-diesel engine and they are very light.

Going uphill is easy.

What is the fuel consumption of the retro campers?

All our retro campers are compact in size, very light and equipped with a turbo-diesel engine.

The fuel consumption is about 1 liter for every 12 kilometers. (8,3L/100KM , 34 MPG)
